<span style="color: #222222;">The Rajya Sabah has taken up the short duration discussion on the need for electoral reforms. Initiating the discussion, Derek O' Brien of TMC said there is a need to take steps and bring amendments in the existing law related to appointment of Election Commissioners. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">On the issue of one nation one election, Mr O' Brien said government should take every party on board before moving forward in this direction. He also raised the issue of EVMs and misuse of data during elections.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Participating in the debate, Bhupender Yadav of BJP favoured one nation one election saying that if the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies elections are held together then it will ensure stability and development of the country. He said, due to continuous elections in different parts of the country, the development works get hampered and large administrative machinery and expenditure are involved in this mammoth exercise. </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Kapil Sibal of Congress questioned the government's intention with regard to electoral reforms. He alleged that money power was used in large scale, particularly in advertisements, in the recent Lok Sabha elections by the BJP. Mr Sibal raised fingers on the credibility of EVMs. The Congress leader questioned the role of media in the general elections.</span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />'' Ram Gopal Yadav of Samajwadi Party said that the people have lost their faith in the EVMs and demanded to bring back the old system of ballot paper.</span><br />''
