Rajnath to chair 22nd Meeting of Western Zonal Council in Mumbai today

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will chair the 22nd Meeting of the Western Zonal Council in Mumbai today. Chief Ministers of Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra besides the Administrators of the Union Territories of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli are scheduled to attend the meeting. <br/><br/><br/>The meeting will firm up plans for countering terrorism including operationalization of Coastal Police Station, construction or upgradation of jetties, creation of Common Coastal Security portal of fishermen or boats and computerization of their movement and review the status of Modernization of Police Force.<br/><br/> The meeting will also review the progress in respect of issuance of Biometric Identity Cards to fishermen and availability of Smart Card Readers to the State Governments and Union Territories Administration. Besides, the issue of linking Biometric Cards with Aadhar will also be taken up in the meeting. <br/><br/>The meeting will also discuss on the Development issues such as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for All (Urban) Mission, implementation of Street Vendors (Protection and Regulation) Act, 2014, Shelters for Urban Homeless and applicability of Notification Act, 2006 relating to Forest Clearance in Gujarat. <br/><br/>It will also examine the proposal to set up a Regional Development Authority for Development of Infrastructure by the Government of Gujarat. The Meeting will also consider six items that remained unresolved during the 21st Meeting of the Western Zonal Council held at Panaji on September 29 last year.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh will chair the 22nd Meeting of the Western Zonal Council in Mumbai today. Chief Ministers of Goa, Gujarat and Maharashtra besides the Administrators of the Union Territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli are scheduled to attend the meeting.<br/><br/>The Home Ministry said, NDA government has laid emphasis on holding regular interactions with States through zonal councils and such exercise will be fruitful in achieving better coordination between the States and the Centre. The 21st Meeting of the Western Zonal Council was held at Panaji on September last year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the Inter-State Council Meeting in New Delhi on July this year.
