Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrived on a two day visit to Kashmir on Friday evening to take first hand stock of security situation in the Kashmir Valley. <br/><br/>On his arrival, Rajnath Singh reached Raj Bhawan where the meeting of Unified Headquarters was scheduled. The unified headquarters is the apex security grid in the state formed to create synergy among various intelligence agencies and security forces engaged in anti-militancy operations. <br/><br/>The visit comes in the wake of deadly militant attack on CRPF convoy last Saturday at Pampore in south Kashmir's Pulwama district. Eight CRPF personnel were killed and 24 others injured in the attack.<br/><br/>On the directions of Home Minister, a three member team of Home Ministry is already camping since Tuesday in Srinagar.<br/><br/>The team headed by Secretary Border Management Sushil Kumar reviewed various aspects of overall security situation in the wake of Pampore attack. After returning to Delhi, the team will submit its report to Union Home Minister.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports that Home Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the high level security review meeting in Srinagar. Besides Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, all top officials of the Unified Headquarters including state and central intelligence agencies and security forces attended the meeting. <br/><br/>The Home Minister was also briefed about steps being taken by various security agencies to maintain peace in the State. <br/><br/>Rajnath Singh was apprised about the steps being taken to tackle spurt in militant activities and infiltration from across the Line of Control. <br/><br/>He was also briefed about the security arrangements for Amarnath Yatra beginning tomorrow. Home Minister called upon all the security agencies to ensure safety and security of common people while tackling militant attacks.
