Rajnath Singh to lay foundation stone for NDRF 10th battalion at Kondapavuluru in Andhra Pradesh today

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will lay the foundation stone for the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 10th battalion at Kondapavuluru in Gannavaram mandal of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh this afternoon, along with Union Minister of Urban Development and Information Broadcasting M. Venkaiah Naidu and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.<br/><br/>The new campus will house the 10th battalion of NDRF, is currently stationed in Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur district, since 15th November 2011. The NDRF battalion is responsible for providing rescue and relief operations during the time of calamities and disasters in Andhra, Telangana and Karnataka states. The NDRF battalion has responded very well to various disasters such as cyclone Phailin, Hud-Hud, Vardah and rain induced floods.<br/><br/>Recognising the NDRF battalion's services, Andhra Pradesh government has allotted 50 acres of land at Kondapavuluru for construction of campus, which will house the living accommodation and world class training area besides administration buildings.
