Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said that more than 70 thousand missing children have been rescued in different parts of the country under the Operation Smile. <br/><br/>Addressing a National Conference on Child Labour in New Delhi today, Mr Singh said, the Operation Smile was first launched by the home Ministry in January 2015 to rescue and rehabilitate the missing children. <br/><br/>Mr Singh said, childhood is the best gift of God, but those who get trapped in child labour are deprived of that beautiful gift. He said that India needs to take a resolve to eradicate the child labour from the country. <br/><br/>Home Minister says child labour is unacceptable in a civilised society. Unveiling PENCIL portal in New Delhi, Mr Singh said, people should take pledge to fight against child labour. The PENCIL potral will be used as an effective enforcement tool for no child labour. <br/><br/>Departments and Ministries at the Centre and states level will register themselves on this portal for better coordination to save child and track them. PENCIL portal will connect the Centre, States and districts so that they can share information about the present status of child labour and act against it. <br/><br/>The Home Minister said, social awareness is required to deal with child labour and asked all concerned departments to join hands to put an end to child labour. <br/><br/>Expressing confidence that child labour will be eradicated from India in next five years, he said, every child is a future of the country and efforts should be made to protect children. <br/><br/>He said it is unfortunate that even after 70 years of independence, child labour is prevailing in the country. <br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Labour Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar said, government will leave no stone unturned to completely eradicate the child labour.
