Home Minister Rajnath Singh today chaired a meeting of the High Level Committee for central assistance to states affected by drought and flood in New Delhi. <br/><br/>The Committee approved the assistance from the National Disaster Relief Fund in respect of Karnataka to the tune of Rs 1540 crore and an amount of Rs 562 crore for Gujarat for losses caused by drought and flood. <br/><br/>The Committee examined the proposals based on the report of the Central Team which visited the affected states by severe natural disasters. <br/><br/>Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Vice-Chairman NITI Aayog, Arvind Panagariya, and senior officers of the Ministries of Home, Finance and Agriculture attended the meeting.
