Rajnath Singh commissions Indian Coast Guard ships through video conferencing

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today commissioned Indian Coast Guard ships Sachet, C-450 and C-451 at Goa through video conferencing from Delhi. These three indigenously designed and built ships are in the line of Prime Minister's 'Make in India' vision.<br />''<br />''AIR correspondent reports that this is the first time in annals of India's maritime history that Coast Guard ship is commissioned through video conferencing.<br />''<br />''Commending Indian Coast Guard and Goa Shipyard Limited for this initiative of commissioning through digital means, the Defence Minister said the commissioning of these ships is an important milestone in India's coastal capability building process. He said, despite challenges like COVID-19, it is also a great example of government's commitment and determination for the safety and security of the country.<br />''<br />''Spelling out Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision 'SAGAR', Mr Singh said oceans are the lifelines of not only the country, but also global prosperity. Safe, protected and clean seas provide economic opportunities for our nation building. He said, India is an emerging maritime power and country's prosperity is also dependent on the sea. He added that being a responsible maritime power, oceans are priority of the government.<br />''<br />''The Defence Minister acknowledged that the sea can become a medium of any kind of threats sponsored by anti-national elements.
