Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh extending all the good wishes to the NDRF battalion as he appreciated their yeomen service to the nation in disasters. He said that he is very proud of all the uniformed services of the country, and recollected the services rendered by NDRF during earthquakes which occurred in Nepal and Japan.<br/><br/>He said there is a great demand for increasing the number of the NDRF battalions across the country which is well versed in tackling disaster rescue operations with precision.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion of laying the foundation stone along with Union Urban Development and Information Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, for the new campus of the 10th Battalion of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) this afternoon at Kondapavuluru near Vijayawada in Krishna district, Rajnath Singh said all over the world today people are discussing about the capabilities and speed with which NDRF swings into action.<br/><br/>The NDRF is very efficient, responsive force which has the people's admiration for their role in odd times. He emphasized the need for more infrastructure facilities to be provided to the force. He thanked the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for coming forward to provide land for the new campus of NDRF battalion. The Union Home Minister also assured the State government that appropriate measures would be taken on behalf of the Centre for establishment of Greyhound, CRPF and RAF battalions.<br/><br/>Earlier Union Minister of Urban Development and Information Broadcasting M. Venkaiah Naidu said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's only agenda after coming to power is to take the country on a development path. He thanked the State government for allocating the land for the NDRF Campus.<br/><br/>Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the NDRF teams, whenever there is crises due to natural calamities rush for the rescue work. He was all praise for the services of the NDRF in recent cyclones like Hud-Hud and Vardah. He said Andhra Pradesh is very vulnerable geographically due to long sea coast it has and most of the cyclones often pass through the State, annually one or two cyclones hitting the coast.<br/><br/>He asked the Home Minister Rajnath Singh that the State government is ready to provide land for setting up greyhound, CRPF and RAF establishments as proposed by the State earlier and requested the Centre to consider it positively.<br/><br/>The NDRF teams earlier demonstrated a mock drill of rescue operations normally they undertake during various kinds of calamities and disasters.<br/><br/>The new campus coming up at Kondapavuluru will house 10th Battalion of NDRF, which is currently stationed in Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur since 15th November 2011. The 10th Battalion of NDRF is responsible for providing rescue and relief operations during disasters in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka states.
