Senior BJP leader and Union minister, Rajnath Singh on Saturday mounted sharp attack on TMC alleging rampant corruption in the ruling party. He said, the people brought TMC to power after years of misrule of the Left Front, but the party has failed them by nurturing systematic corruption at all level from Saradha to Narada. He was addressing election rallies in north 24 Parganas on Saturday.

Mr. Singh pointed out that in sheer contrast, the two year BJP rule at the Centre has remained free of any accusation and scam, providing unprecedented welfare-oriented initiatives to make India a power to reckon with. The people of Bengal should therefore vote BJP to power in Bengal so that proper development can be ensured, he added.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, addressing party rallies in Bashirhat and Howrah, professed that the TMC government will fall apart like the Vivekananda Road flyover in Kolkata. Pointing at the alleged massive corruption in ruling party, Mr. Gandhi appealed to the people to vote for Congress. CPI-M MP Ritabarata Banerjee attended Rahul's rally at Bashirhat while his party candidate from Bally in Howrah, Anjan Bera and former CPI-M MP Swadesh Chakraborty attended Mr. Gandhi's campaign in Howrah.

TMC chairperson and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee concentrated on the next phases' canvassing in Hooghly district today. Addressing party rallies at Singur and Arambagh, she came down heavily on CPI-M and Congress asking them as to what have they done for the people of Singur and termed BJP as a party indulging in divisive politics. She reiterated her government's committed stand to return the land to the Singur farmers once the legal hurdles are over.

The CPI-M state secretary, Surjya Kanta Mishra addressed public meetings in Oandua, Hooghly. He said that Mamata has no right to seek votes to enter the Assembly which was ransacked by TMC "goons" under her leadership. He said the Congress-Left combine in the ongoing polls is the people's alliance and the people of West Bengal have come together to get rid of the corrupt TMC government led by Mamata.
