An eight-member ULFA team led by Arbind Rajkhowa met Home Minister P Chidambaram in New Delhi. Talking to media, ULFA leader Rajkhowa said they presented a charter of demands to find an honourable solution to Assam's three-decade-old insurgency problem. He said they had demanded Constitutional and political arrangements and reforms, including protection of the identity and material resources of indigenous population of Assam. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi also attended the meeting, which lasted nearly 40 minutes. Soon after the meeting, Gogoi told reporters that it was a cordial meeting aimed at giving fresh impetus to peace in Assam. The leader of the pro-talk ULFA faction Rajkhowa said they wanted release of Anup Chetia now held in Bangladesh so that he was able to take part in the talks.
