Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi has stressed the need for more sensitization of people on disasters. Delivering a keynote address at a seminar on Risk Governance and Investing in Resilience in New Delhi today, Mr Mehrishi said, awareness is key to disaster risk reduction. He said, Government has brought a drastic change in its approach to disaster which has led to reduction of mortality. The Home Secretary said, Urban Local Bodies also needs to be strengthened for disaster management. <br/><br/>The event was organized in the run up to the Asian Ministerial Conference Disaster Risk Reduction 2016. The event includes five panel discussions on Mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction, Financing Disaster Risk Reduction, Response and Recovery, Risk Financing, Regulating the Built Environment and Ten Years of Implementation of the Disaster Management Act.
