Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award conferred on Vijay Kumar, Yogeshwar Dutt<br/>

Olympic medallists, Vijay Kumar and Yogeshwar Dutt were today jointly conferred the country&apos;s highest sporting honour – Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award. President Pranab Mukherjee also gave away the Arjuna awards to 25 sportsperson in a glittering ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on the occasion of National Sports Day today. He also honoured eight persons with Dronacharya Awards and four sportpersons with Major Dhyan Chand Awards. A loud applause greeted the two Olympic heroes as they received Rajeev Gandhi Khel Ratna Awards from President Pranab Mukherjee in the presence of a host of Ministers, dignitaries and sports celebrities.Pistol shooter Vijay had won a silver in the 25 metre rapid fire event , while Yogeshwar bagged a bronze in 60 kg free style event at the London Olympics. Both the medallists collected the trophy that consists of a medal, citation and cash prize of 7 lakh 50 thousand rupees each.Cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who is preparing to stage a comeback after recovering from a rare germ cell cancer, also received a thunderous applause as he received the Arjuna award. Hockey mid-fielder Sardar Singh, wrestler Geeta Phogat, and Narsingh Yadav, shooters Annu Raj Singh and Omkar Singh, shuttlers P Kashyap and Ashwini Ponappa, archers Deepika Kumari Bombayla Devi and wieght lifter Sonia Chanu were among others who were conferred Arjuna Award this year. Dronacharya award, Arjuna award and Major Dhyan Chand award carries a cash award of 5 lakh rupees each.
