Rajiv Gandhi Gramin LPG Vitarak Yojana launched in Rajasthan

With an aim to provide more LPG connections in rural areas, Rajiv Gandhi Gramin LPG Vitarak Yojana was today launched from Laxmangarh town of Sikar district in Rajasthan. The Chief Minister, Mr. Ashok Gehlot and Petroleum Minister, Mr. Murli Deora formally launched the scheme. Under the scheme, five crore more LPG connections would be provided in the next five years. On the occasion, Mr. Deora said that LPG will reduce dependence on conventional fuel like coal and wood, and provide clean and convenient feul in villages. He said that the scheme will also provide more employment opportunities in rural areas. Mr. Deora also said that a committee has been set up for exploring poissiblities for a refininery in Rajasthan. Union Ministers, Dr. P.C. Joshi and Mahadev Singh Khandela were also present at the function.
