Rajiv assassination: WB Governor dismisses claim by CBI officer over Narayanan ordering suppression of video

The West Bengal Governor has dismissed a claim made by a former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer that Mr.Narayanan ordered the suppression of a video that could through light on events leading up to the assassination of former Prime Minister Mr. Rajiv Gandhi on the 21st of May in 1991. It maybe recalled that the CBI's former chief investigating officer Mr. K. Ragothaman has claimed in his book titled “Conspiracy to kill Rajiv Gandhi – From CBI files”, that Mr. Narayanan, as IB chief in 1991, ordered the suppression of he video shot by a local video-grapher. Mr. Narayanan who is on a visit to Australia said that he thinks Mr. Ragoghaman wants to sell his book.

Mr. Ragothaman has claimed that he had flagged the issue for consideration of a probe to his seniors, but received no order to pursue this line of investigation by his boss Mr. D. R. Karthikeyan, and feels that Mr. Narayanan was allowed to go scot-free.
