Rajendra Singh today took charge as the Director General of the Indian Coast Guard, the first non-Navy officer to be elevated to the top post. <br/><br/>Singh, who belonged to the first batch of Indian Coast Guard in 1980 and was the Inspector General (West region) during the 26/11 terror attacks, took charge from Vice Admiral H C S Bisht.<br/><br/>Singh was the Additional Director General of the Indian Coast Guard. His elevation as the DG was approved by the Appointments Committee of Cabinet on February 24.
