Rajdhani derailment: Railway Min announces enquiry by Commissioner of railway safety

Railway Minister Sadanand Gowda has announced that the Commissioner of railway safety will enquire in to New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani express derailment. After inspecting the mishap site, Railway Minister said in Patna that he will say anything on the reason of accident after the enquiry.

He also announced a compensation of rupees 2 lakh for the deceased, one lakh rupees for those who were severely seriously injured and 20 thousand for those who suffered minor injuries.

The Railway Minister and Minister of State for Railway Manoj Sinha also visited Chapra Sadar hospital along with local BJP leaders.The accident occurred early this morning when 12 coaches of the train derailed near Chapra. 4 persons were killed and 18 others injured in the mishap.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh also said it will be too early to blame the Maoists for the derailment of the Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani in Bihar. Singh told reporters in New Delhi that one should wait for further report on the incident.

He said he has spoken directly to rail officials on the spot and has briefed the Prime Minister regarding all developments. He said even the Prme Minister agrees that it is too early to blame the Naxals for the accident.

Due to the Rajdhani Express derailment at least 23 trains have been diverted and 49 have been short terminated or cancelled in the route where accident took placed .

Bihar government has also announced ex-gratia of 50 thousand rupees for the family of each of the deceased and for treatment of injured persons.

The President and the Prime Minister have expressed grief over the loss of lives in the Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express train accident.

President Pranab Mukherjee called upon the State Government and Railway authorities to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved families as well as the best of medical care to the injured.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered condolences over the loss of lives and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the accident. A release by the Prime Minister's Office said, Modi is in touch with the Railway Minister, who has apprised him of the relief work at the accident site.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi today conveyed her deep condolences to the family of the deceased and said the guilty if any should be brought to book at the earliest. She asked the government to look into all aspects of the Rajdhani Express accident in Bihar so that such accidents do not recur.
