In Rajasthan, the Resident Doctors also went on strike on Wednesday night in support of the strike called by in-service Doctors.Meanwhile the strike of in-service doctors entered second day today paralyzing the medical services particularly in the rural areas. Contractual employees of NRHM are already on strike since Monday. In view of this, the state government has made alternate arrangements to maintain medical services in the hospitals. 570 new doctors have been appointed who have been asked to join within three days.The Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot reviewed the situation late in the night. He has appealed the striking doctors to resume their work on humanitarian grounds, failing which the government would not hesitate in taking stern action against them. Rajasthan Essential Services Maintenance Act (RESMA) has also been enforced for three months.Seventeen Doctors have been arrested under RESMA so far, whereas most of the Doctors are underground to avoid disciplinary action under the Act.
