Rajasthan govt to procure Bajra at Rs 880 per quintal

Rajasthan government has decided to procure Bajra or Millet at the Minimum Support Price of 880 rupees per quintalRajasthan government has decided to procure Bajra or Millet at the Minimum Support Price of 880 rupees per quintal from the 1st of next month. A decision to this effect was taken at meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in Jaipur on Sunday.In the first phase, procurement will be made in 16 districts where more than one lakh metric tonnes of Bajra production is estimated. 69 procurement centres have been set up in various districts for the purpose. Our correspondent reports that 45 lakh metric tonnes of Bajra production in expected in the state this year.Due to good monsoon production of 45 million tones of Bazara is expected this year. Market price of Bazara is 700 to 750 rupees per quintal while the minimum support price is 880 rupees per quintal.Few days ago The Chief Minister demanded from the center to start procurement on MSP in the interest of farmers.After his meeting with Agriculture Minister Mr. Sharad Pawar, Mr. Pawar announced that center will provide 50 Cr. rupees to Rajasthan for immediate start of procurement by co-operative bodies.
