In Rajasthan, the state government has taken an important decision to keep four per cent vacancies reserved for Specially Backward Classes, including Gujjars, in government jobs. In a meeting of Council of Ministers held in Jaipur on Tuesday it was decided that the word “Notionally Reserved” will be replaced by “Reserved”.Briefing the media persons the Home Minister Shanti Dhariwal clarified that the recruitment process will continue but the interests of Gujjar community will be fully safeguarded. He also clarified that SBCs will continue to get the benefit of one per cent reservation and there should be no confusion about this. Shri Dhariwal said that the state government has also decided to deploy four senior IAS officers in the stir hit areas to maintain law and order.The Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has also appealed the Gujjar Leaders to call of their agitation has the state government is committed to fulfill their demands within the legal framework. He said that the decision of High Court should be understood and respected by both the sides.Meanwhile, the agitation which entered the ninth day today has taken 18 districts in its grip. Bandh was organised in six towns in Ajmer and Jhalawar districts in support of the agitation. Rail and road traffic still remains paralysed.
