Rajasthan has demanded special status to the state and a package for drinking water problem. The Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and all the ministers of the state today met the Prime Minister at Jaipur and raised various demands of the state. Minister of Rural development Jairam Ramesh and Deputy Chairman of Planning commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia were also present in the meeting.The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh assured the Rajasthan Govt that he will consider on states demands. He praised the financial management of the state and said that despite of natural and geographical problems Rajasthan has done remarkable work in the sectors of infrastructure, road, energy and welfare of minorities. In the meeting Mr. Gehlot said that special package for drinking water is needed for the state.He demanded an employment scheme for poor people of urban areas, early completion of Jaipur-Delhi express way and allotment of coal blocks for power stations of the state. In this meeting Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh informed that his ministry has approved Nagaur lift water supply scheme,2938 Cr Rs would be spent on this scheme. He said that a scheme for construction of 3600 Km Roads in rural areas has also been approved.
