Rajasthan: CM orders to investigate hooch tragedy

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot directed the Special Operation Group of the state police to investigate the hooch tragedy which claimed 18 lives in Jodhpur and Pali districts.During a high-level review meeting at his official residence in Jaipur yesterday, Mr Gehlot also decided to hold district excise officer responsible if any such incident occurs in the future. After the tragedy struck Rajasthan, police and excise departments have cracked down on illegal liquor business and arrested three persons in Pali. SP Ajaypal Lamba,(Pali) said four persons were arrested and eight more have also been detained who are being interrogated. According to Jodhpur range office, 125 cases have been registered and 113 persons have been arrested so far. In this exercise, at least 350 litres of spirit have been seized while, 10,000 barrels have been destroyed.
