Rajasthan Assembly polls: 30-40 pc voting in 1st 4 hours of polling

Brisk and peaceful polling is reported in 199 out of 200 Assembly seats in Rajasthan. AIR correspondent reports, about 30 percent voting was cast in the first four hours of polling. In some constituencies it is as high as 40 percent.

Early voters include Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in Sardarpura and State BJP President Vasundhara Raje in Jhalrapatan. Voting will continue till 5 p.m. In Churu constituency polling has been postponed due to death of the BSP candidate.

Over 4 Crore 7 lakh voters are to decide the fate of 2087 candidates at 47223 polling stations in the state.

Ruling Congress and main opposition party BJP are contesting all the seats while BSP is contesting 195 and CPM 38 seats. 666 candidates of other parties and 758 independent candidates are also in the fray.
