Rajasthan approves new mining policy for state

The Rajasthan Cabinet on Friday approved new mining policy of the state. In the new policy emphasis has been given on Eco-friendly mining, to create employment opportunities and to create atmosphere for value addition of minerals found in state. After the cabinet meeting held in Jaipur on Friday C.M. Ashok Gehlot briefed media persons about the policy and said that 26% of the profit by mining in tribal areas would be spent on local development and time period for initial mining lease has also increased for 90 instead of present 60 years.The Govt has decided to allot mines through bidding for transparency and provision of reservation for sc, st, obc, sbc, unemployed youth etc have also been made in the policy.According to new policy no permission of mining will be granted in sanctuary areas and in the radius of 25 mt. of any forest area.The Cabinet also decided to change name of Rajasthan Ayurveda University Jodhpur, its new name will be Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan Rajasthan Ayurveda University. The cabinet has decided to create a new cadre for nursing and paramedical staff and amended the pay scales of officers of Nagar Palika Service also.
