Raja, aides to be produced in court today

Former Telecom Minister A Raja along with former Telecom Secretary Siddartha Behura and Raja's Personal Secretary R K Chandolia will be produced in the court today. They were arrested by CBI in the 2G Spectrum allocation case on Wednesday. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, CBI chief spokesperson, Anurag said the three were arrested for criminal conspiracy and under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Anurag said their arrests based on facts disclosed so far during the investigation regarding their role in allocation of spectrum to certain companies.The 2G spectrum case paralysed the entire winter session of the parliament on opposition demand for a joint parliamentary committee probe into it. The FIR filed by the CBI mentions the loss in spectrum allocations as rupees 22 thousand crore based on CVC findings which has referred the case to it.Congress says, Raja's arrest shows that law is taking its own course. AICC General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi told reporters that the development will not have any bearing on the relations between the Congress and DMK. BJP on the other hand dubbed the arrest as “too little too late” and demanded that others involved in the scam also be brought to book. BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that Raja's arrest was just the beginning of an exercise. CPIM leader Brinda Karat said that it is not the question of arrest of an individual but is an issue of policy.The Supreme Court has asked CBI and Enforcement directorate to submit status report on their investigation into the case by February 10.
