Rains lash UP; flood situation grim in terai & W Region

In Uttar Pradesh, the intermittent rain continues to lash several parts of the state. The river Ghaghra and Rapti have started receding at most of the places in eastern UP but the Ganga continues to rise in some districts due to release of water from Haridwar Barrage. Our correspondent reports that the flood situation is still grim in certain districts of terai and western region.AIR correspondent Salman Haider reports from Gorakhpur that ‘the water is still logged in Karnailganj tehsil of Gonda where more than 100 villages are still marooned. As many as 28 districts are still flood affected in the state. The relief work is going on in the flood affected districts. The medical teams are trying hard to contain the spread of infectious diseases in flood torn districts. Around 50 people have succumbed to viral fever, diorrohea and other infectious diseases in terai region during the current season.
