Entire Chhattisgarh has been receiving wide spread rainfall since the last 24 hours. Maximum rainfall has taken place in the Bastar division of the state, causing the Indravati river to swell continuously. In view of this the district administration has taken adequate steps to evacuate the people from the affected areas to safer places.AIR G.C. Dash correspondent reports from Raipur that the naxal hit Bastar region of the state has been hit this time with incessant rains. According to the meteorological department, Bastar has received about 200 millimeters of rainfall during the last 27 hours alone. Due to this, rain water has meandered into some low lying areas of the district including that of the district Head quarters Jagdalpur.Collector, Bastar Mr. M.S.Paraste told AIR news this evening that Vehicular traffic has been put on hold on the national Highway 43 as rain water has been overflowing at least at three places. He also said that there is no cause for worry even if the water of the river Indravati rises as the district administration is fully geared up to meet any eventuality. Thankfully, there has been no casualty till now due to the flood-like situation in Bastar. It can only be expected that the rain-weary Bastar region will not have to suffer from the wrath of rain.
