Rains adds to the North chill

North India is witnessing intensified cold conditions owing to rains. National capital Delhi witnessed the coldest day of this winter on Friday with maximum temperature plummeting to the season's lowest of 16.9 degree Celsius.

Friday’s maximum was four degree Celsius below normal.

Delhi and adjoining areas have also witnessed overnight rains.

The weatherman has predicted light rain for today with temperature oscillating between 13 and 18 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, in Uttarakhand, cold conditions has been intensified following the snow fall at high altitude areas and rain at different places today.

In Uttar Pradesh, rain and cold wind during last 24 hours have made the weather chillier. The Met unit says that cold conditions will prevail in many parts of the state in coming hours.

Several trains especially on Delhi Howrah route are running late by four to 10 hours due to fog.
