The third day's play of the first India – South Africa Test match in Cape Town has been called off due to persistent rain. Hopefully, the match will resume tomorrow at 10:30 AM local time if weather condition improves, with 98 overs scheduled. On day two, India finished with 209 runs in their first innings in reply to South Africa's 286. South Africa were 65 for 2 at stumps with an overall lead of 142 runs. Heavy showers had been forecast for Sunday and rain began early in the morning. As the scheduled start time of play approached rain picked up. It was decided to start the match at 3:00 PM local time but the rain god did not relent and the match was finally called off for the day at 3:30 PM.
