In China, floods and landslides triggered by recent heavy rains in six provincial-level regions have left 100 people dead and 17 others missing. In its latest report, the National Disaster Reduction Commission said over 1.8 million people in the regions of Sichuan, Shaanxi, Henan, Chongqing, Hubei and Shanxi had to be relocated because of the disasters. The reports said about 70 percent of the affected countries are in remote and less developed areas, making it more difficult for rescuers to carry out relief work. Is said the disasters have also caused an estimated 27.21 billion Yuan in direct economic losses.
