Rain lashes almost all parts of Northern India

Rain lashed almost all parts of Northern region today with eight persons washed away in a flash flood in Himachal Pradesh. The incident occurred in Paonta Sahib area of Sirmaur district. Four vehicles carrying a marriage party were trapped in a khud and several persons travelling in the vehicles manged to escape. But eight persons could not do so and are missing. Massive search operations have been launched.

The flood situation continues to be grim in Dhemaji district of Assam. Around 325 villages are affected. More than 900 houses have been completely washed away.

National capital welcomed a rainy weekend with over 40 mm of rains in the first few hours of the monsoon which hit Delhi yesterday.
The showers brought down the minimum temperature to 23.2 degree Celsius, four degrees below normal.

The South-West monsoon advanced into the remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh in the past 24 hours resulting in rains in several parts of the state.

Parched land of Punjab and Haryana were also lashed by monsoon rain causing a dip in mercury.
