At least 14 people were killed in rain related incidents in Uttar Pradesh as the monsoon gained momentum in the north western parts of the country. The Met Department has predicted a heavy downpour in the Central and North-Western regions over the next 36 hours. In Uttar Pradesh, major rivers like the Ghagra, Sharda, Ganga, Rapti, Budhi Rapti, Rohini and the Gandak are in spate and have flooded several villages. 14 people lost their lives in rain related incidents on Sunday in Kaushambi, Hardoi, Partapgarh, Ballia, Bhadoi and Etawah districts of the state. In West Bengal, the flood situation has improved following an improvement in weather conditions. However, the flood alert continues to remain in force in Howrah, Hooghly and Burdwan districts as a precautionary measure. Several areas of Himachal Pradesh were lashed by heavy rain, causing fall of five to six degree in day temperature. While heavy rain lashed national capital on Sunday night and early this morning, Rajasthan experienced light to moderate showers on Sunday.
