In Uttar Pradesh life is out of gear due to continuous rainfall following vigorous monsoon in the state. Thirteen persons have lost their lives in different parts of the state in rain-related incidents during last 24 hours.A maximum of about 65 mm rain has been recorded at Basti district followed by 50 mm at Ghazipur. Quoting official sources AIR correspondent reports low lying areas in several districts including Allahabad, Varanasi, Lucknow, Mirzapur and Sultanpur are water logged. People are forced to leave their houses as drainage system has collapsed and rain water has entered into the houses. Continuous rain has badly affected road and rail traffic, telecommunication system and electricity supply in several districts. Central Water Commission sources said that Sharda and Ghaghara are flowing above the danger mark at Palia Kalan in Lakhimpur Kheri, Elgin Bridge in Barabanki, Ayodhya in Faizabad and Turtipar in Ballia while Ganga was flowing above the danger mark at Ballia.
