Incessant rain inundated around 500 villages in seven districts of Assam. The Brahmaputra and some of its tributaries are flowing above the danger mark. Two students drowned in Tinsukia district yesterday. Flood water washed away a high school and at least 10 houses in the worst affected Dhemaji district. Our Correspondent reports that breach in the embankment of Brahmaputra at Janmichuk inundated 30 villages in Dhemaji.Our correspondent reports that flood water affected normal life in 14 revenue circles. Around two lakh people are reeling under flood waters. District administration imposed ban on the movement ferries and boats between Jorhat and Majuli indefinitely due to the rise of water level of the Brahmaputra. State Disaster Response Force has been pressed into service.20 thousand people are staying at government run relief camps in Tinsukia district. Relief materials are being distributed in the affected areas.
