Major rivers are rising in different districts of Uttar Pradesh and thousands of people from more than three hundred villages are worst affected. With heavy rainfall and release of water from flooded rivers in Nepal, rivers Ganga, Sharda, Ramganga, Yamuna, Ghagra and Saryu are flowing above the danger -mark at several places. The Flood in Uttar Pradesh has claimed about one hundred lives so far. The state government has however confirmed seventy deaths due to rain and flood. According to central water commission Ganga is flowing above the danger mark in Ballia and rising in Farukkhabad, Ankinghat and Kanpur. Ramganga is flowing above red-mark at Moradabad and Shahjahanpur and Ghagra is flowing above the danger mark at Gonda, Barabanki and Ballia. River Sharda is flowing above the danger mark at Pallia Kalan in Lakhimpur khiri district . In Himachal Pradesh, Monsoon is active in the state with many areas including Shimla experiencing rain since Saturday morning. The Manali-Leh National Highway remained blocked for the third day on Saturday due to landslides triggered by rains. All of them are reported to be safe and the administration is trying to rescue them. The river Yamuna and swan in una district are at spate and flowing above danger mark where as the flood gates of pong dam located in kangra district have been opened. The roads are in bad shape through out the state due to continuous rain which has badly affected the tourism industry. The local Met office said thunder showers are expected in isolated Places in the state during next 24 hours.
