Major rivers are rising in different districts of Uttar Pradesh and thousands of people from more than three hundred villages are worst affected. With heavy rainfall and release of water from flooded rivers in Nepal, rivers Ganga, Sharda, Ramganga, Yamuna, Ghagra and Saryu are flowing above the danger -mark at several places. The Flood in Uttar Pradesh has claimed about one hundred lives so far. The state government has however confirmed seventy deaths due to rain and flood. According to central water commission Ganga is flowing above the danger mark in Ballia and rising in Farukkhabad, Ankinghat and Kanpur. Ramganga is flowing above red-mark at Moradabad and Shahjahanpur and Ghagra is flowing above the danger mark at Gonda, Barabanki and Ballia. River Sharda is flowing above the danger mark at Pallia Kalan in Lakhimpur khiri district . In Himachal Pradesh, all the tourists stranded in Spiti valley have been rescued and the traffic has been partially restored for light vehicles after clearing boulders at Rani Nallah on manali – leh national highway. According to AIR Shimla correspondent hundreds of trucks and vehicles carrying peas and vegetables are stranded in Lahaul Spiti and with apples in upper Shimla. There is resentment in the people of lahal spiti over the condition of Manali-Leh National Highway as it remains blocked every now and then. Today the traffic on this road has been partially restored after three days but heavy vehicles carrying the crop of Peas and vegetables are still stranded in the area. This road is maintained by boarder road organization. Earlier last month the people of the area went on indefinite fast protesting against the closer of road every now and then questioning the services rendered by the BRO. However the stranded tourists in the spiti vally have been rescued. The rain which is continuing for the past many days have taken a heavy toll on the basic infrastructure in the state. Most of the roads have developed huge pits and some roads have been totally washed away through out the state. The apple season which is at full swing is suffering a lot due to bad road conditions as farmers have been asked to shell hafty sum for the transportation of their crop. Tourists visiting Himachal are annoyed over the road conditions and thus the tourism industry is going through a tough phase. The local Met office said more rain and thunder showers are expected in the state during next 24 hours.
