Power demand in the peak hours in the national capital yesterday dropped by 217 Mega Watt to 5253 Mega Watt due to rain which lashed Delhi last evening. The peak demand on Wednesday touched the level 5470 Mega Watt. According to the Delhi Power Department, adequate power is available in the city to ensure its supply. The load shedding which was earlier planned in East Delhi to the tune of 60 to 70 Mega Watt was finally reduced to 15 Mega Watt. It said, in Dwarka, Najafgarh, Uttam Nagar and Pankha Road, no load shedding was carried out where 150 Mega Watt loadshedding had been planned earlier.Delhi's Additional Power Secretary Ankur Garg said, it willtake at least 10 days to restore the transmission network andnormalise the supply. Union Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal visited Maharani Bagh area on Wednesday night to take stock of the progress of repair work of the Maharani Bagh-Gazipur 220KV line.
