Road communication at many places in Uttarakhand disrupted due to heavy rain in various Parts of the state during last twenty four hours. Rishikesh -Badreenath and Haridwar-Nazeebabad national high ways have been blocked. Meanwhile Met Department predicts that light to moderate rain may occur at few places in next 24 hours. Many Motar Marg including Rishikesh Badreenath national highway remain closed today due to landslide after heavy rain in Almora, Pithouragarh, Champavat, Teharee and Chamolee district. Supply of essential commodities have been badly affected in remote areas due to road block. National highway no. 74 between Najibabad and Haridwar has also blocked due to damage of bridge near Mandawali after heavy rain because of that road connectivity between Kumaon and Garhwal has been disrupted. Vehicles are going from Haridwar to Udhamsingh Nagar via Bijnor from a longer root. Meanwhile two children’s have been swept away in Haridwar on Thursday. According to Director met department Anand Sharma 62 millimeter rain recorded in Dehradun during last twenty four hours. In Uttar Pradesh, despite the slow pace of monsoon several rivers in the eastern are Terai regions continue to rise, posing threat of flood in several area. One to 10 millimetre of rain has been recorded in the catchments of major rivers, Ghaghra, Sharda and Rapti. AIR Gorakhpur correspondent says that flood posts have been activated in the affected districts. One company of Provincial Armed Constabulary has been deployed in affected areas of Gonda. Even as the pace of monsoon has been slowed down in UP, the water level of rivers continue to rise. Rapti River is rising all along its course. The river is one metre twenty eight metres below the danger mark in Gorakhpur. The river Ghaghra is flowing above the danger mark at many places including Ayodhya, Barabanki and Gonda. Three tehsils of Gonda and two tehsils of Bahraich have become affected. The state government has identified 32 districts of the state as flood prone. The administrations of the concerned districts have been alerted to cope up with the possible flood. In Mumbai city, the continuous rain fall has finally slowed down. Mumbai city is now facing intermittent rainfall. The Konkan region that was experiencing down pouring for last 4 days has finally got rid of heavy showers. However, Ratnagiri district is facing subdued rain fall and the 13 villages in Ratnagiri which had lost contact with remaining district, have re-established connections. Despite slowing down of rains, life in Sindhudurga has not yet come to normal. Many rivers in Sindhudurga have crossed danger level.
