The first one day cricket international between India and Australia in Kochi has been delayed due to heavy rain early on Sunday. The city has been witnessing heavy downpour since last Thursday which had resulted in practice sessions of both the teams being washed out.AIR correspondent reports that this is the first in the three match series between the two countries.The encounter takes place just after the test series triumph against the Australians, keeping the mood upbeat in the Indian camp. The two sides have rested several key players, giving chance to younger ones.Besides Sachin Tendulkar, Virendra Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, the Indian side will be missing Zaheer Khan and Harbajan Singh.Ricky Ponting, Shane Watson and Mitchell Johnson are among those who are not included in the Australian squad.The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is a favourable hunting ground for the host team, which has won four out of the six one day matches played there. With rain clouds keeping away since yesterday morning, the threat of rain disrupting the match has receded, bringing joy to thousands of cricket fans , eagerly waiting for the match.
