In Uttar Pradesh, rain continues to lash several parts triggering the level-rise in all major rivers including the Ganga, the Ghaghra and the Rapti. Several new areas have been inundated by the flood water in Kannauj, Bahraich, Gonda and Lakhimpur Kheri. Ganga in Ballia and Sharda in Lakhimpur Kheri have crossed the danger mark. As many as 18 people have died in rain and flood related incidents in Kannauj during the current season. AIR correspondent reports that the sky is overcast in a major portion of the state and rain is still lashing several terai and eastern districts.
