In Uttar Pradesh nearly 31 people were killed and several injured due to heavy rains that lashed the several parts of the state during last 48 hours. Six each died in Lakhimpur Kheri and Chitrakoot, four in Sitapur, three each died in Gonda and Barabanki two in Agra, while one each died in Shahjahanpur, Kanpur, Fatehpur, Kanpur Dehat, Unnao, Kannauj, and Lucknow in rain related incidents including wall collapse and lightening. The government has announced financial assistance of one lakh rupees each to the next kin of deceased. Meanwhile fresh discharge of over 2 lakh cusecs of water by Nepal through Banbasa barrage have posed deluge danger to Pilibhit, Bahraich, Ayodhya in Faizabad and Paliyakala in Lakhimpur Kheri district once more. The heavy rains have, caused massive destruction to crops and also the population residing in 'kuccha' houses.According to Central Water Commission moderate to heavy rains occurred at most places in Allahabad, Varanasi, Faizabad, Gorakhpur and Lucknow divisions, at many places in Bareilly and Kanpur divisions. Light to moderate rains lashed many places in rest divisions of the state. Maximum 148.7 mm rainfall was recorded at Katarniya Ghat in Bahraich district, followed by 148.6 mm in Barabanki and 105 mm in Sultanpur district. Day temperature fell markedly in Faizabad division, fell appreciably in Lucknow and Barabanki division, rose in Agra division and changed little elsewhere. The weatherman has forecast moderate to rather heavy rain and thundershower likely at many places in all divisions of east UP, while light to moderate rain and thundershowers were predicted at isolated places in all divisions of western districts of the state.
