Rain affects normal life of Uttarakhand, Chattisgarh, Punjab and UP

The road network especially in Garhwal region of Uttarakhand has been badly affected due to heavy rain. Chardham Yatra route has been blocked due to frequent landslides and pilgrims are facing problems.One person has been killed in lightning incident in Dehradun on Thursday night. The yatra to Himalayan shrine of Gangotri, Yamunotri and Badareenath has been badly affected due to landslides at different places in the state. As per reports, supply of essential commodities has been disrupted in Chamoli and Uttarkashi districts. Border road organisation and district officials are working round the clock to restore the road communication. According to met department 62 millimetre rain recorded in Uttarkashi during last 24 hours. Director Met department Anand Sharma told that moderate to rather heavy rain may occur in the state, especially in adjoining areas of Uttar Pradesh in next 24 hours. With continuous rain in Chhattisgarh for the 4th consecutive day on Friday, the Chief Minister, Dr. Raman Singh is taking stock of the situation arising out of flood in different areas of the state. People stranded in different parts of the state have been evacuated to relief camps. In Chhattisgatrh Assembly the opposition Congress today said that the flood situation in Raigarh and Jangtir Thampa district may worsen if all the gates in the Hirakud dam in adjoining Odisha are not opened. In response Education & Culture Minister, Mr. Brij Mohan Agarwal informed the House that the matter has already been taken up with the Government of Odisha and 65 gats of the dam have been opened. Many places in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh are experiencing rain since on Thursday evening. Sky is cloudy and Met office has predicted more rain. Agriculture experts say that heavy rain may affect standing crops. Moderate to heavy rain lashed in different parts of Uttar Pradesh especially in eastern UP in last twenty four hours. Duet to Low pressure area over eastern parts Uttar Pradesh moderate to heavy rain has recorded in Last twenty four hours. According to met department Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Mirzapur and Allahabad divisions have recorded good rain fall in last thirty six hours. Mirzapur area received around 150 mm rain in last thirty six hours while sitapur and shrawasti recorded more than hundred milimemnter rain. The met department said that several areas of western UP has also light to moderate rains, Bareilly has recorded more than ninety millimeter rain. However Flood situation is continuously improving in the state but eleven districts are still flood affected. According to central water commission main rivers are receding in almost all the places.
