Rain affects normal life in Tamil Nadu; water levels of several rivers rise in Haryana

In Haryana, the food situation has improved in Sirsa district as the water level of Ghaggar at Ottu Weir has come one feet down and flow of water in the river has reduced to 20,000 cusecs from 24,000 cusecs. <br/><br/>Disclosing this in Chandigarh today, an official spokesman said that the flood situation in Sirsa is under control. He said that the breaches in Ghaggar bank near village Ferozabad have been plugged with the cooperation of Army, Dera Sacha Saudha, Namdhari Samudai and rural people. <br/><br/>One company of National Disaster Relief Force had also come to provide relief to the flood affected people. He said that water has also receded in the villages of Ambala district. A Revenue Department spokesman said that a Central Team will visit flood affected areas of Haryana tomorrow.<br/><br/>Haryana government today announced a package of 12.67 crore rupee to provide succour to the flood-ravaged farmers in the state. The package includes subsidized seeds of various kharif and vegtables crops.<br/> <br/>Making the announcement, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said, under the package 75 per cent subsidy will be given on the seeds of Basmati varieties so that the farmers might raise fresh nurseries of paddy wherever feasible or for direct seeding. He said, seeds of alternate crops like toria, hybrid bajra and jowar in the form of minikits will also be given free of cost to farmers in the affected areas. <br/><br/>The Chief Minister also announced to give 75 per cent subsidy on the seeds of vegetable like bhindi, brinjal, cucumber, chilli, cucurbits, capsicum, leafy vegetables, radish, carrot and arbi.
