Railways has undertaken a massive exercise of refurbishing 40 thousand coaches with upgraded facilities and enhanced safety features. These coaches will be refurbished in next five years and each coach will cost about 30 lakh rupees. <br/><br/>Existing coaches will be retrofitted with refurbished interiors, improved seating arrangement and newly-designed bio-toilets among other modern facilities. Launching the Mission Retro-Fitment at Rail Bhawan in New Delhi, Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu said, it is an ambitious program to upgrade the level of furnishing and amenities in the coaches of Railways. He said, this is one of the largest retro fitment project in the world.
