Railways to procure latest tech to ensure passenger safety

Railways has decided to procure the latest technology on a war footing to ensure passenger safety and reduce dependence on manual systems. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today described the two incidents of derailment of trains in Uttar Pradesh as very sad. <br/><br/>Mr Prabhu said, Railways have to bring down such cases and safety inspections have to be more vigorous. The Minister said, railways will procure modern equipment for faster detection of fracture on rail tracks. Experts from Japan and Korea will examine the existing safety mechanism and suggest ways to strengthen it. Mr Prabhu said, all railway officers have been instructed to involve in inspection on a regular basis.<br/> <br/>On the issue of Railway safety fund, the Minister said, there will be no dearth of funds for safety works. He said, the Ministry has written to the finance ministry for the special fund and the minister has agreed in principle for it.<br/>
