Railways plan to tackle fog

Gearing up for foggy weather, Northern Railway has chalked out a detailed plan to ensure safety of train movement. Senior Northern Railway officials said,the railway has already announced cancellation of 13 trains from January 1 to February 17 next year.They said, arrangements are being made to ensure passengers' convenience during train delays due to foggy conditions. Staff at inquiry offices have been strengthend and more counters opened to assist passengers.

The officials also said,fog-safe devices have been provided to loco running staff to ensure absolute safety in train operations on trial basis. Train Protection Warning System (TPWS) modification has been completed in 17 locomotives and emergency stop buttons have also been fitted in 107 locomotives. Railways will also deploy medical teams with ambulances at important stations during this time.
