Union Minister Suresh Prabhu today said the Railways need to diversify its freight basket over a period of time and that private-public partnership (PPP) initiatives are the best to accommodate smaller quantities of cargo.<br/><br/>Addressing the third conference on logistics organised by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) in Goa, the Minister said the best way in which smaller quantities of cargo can be accommodated is through the PPP initiative. <br/><br/>Mr. Prabhu said that Railways is working on a structured plan which will encourage multi-modal transportation and will help in connecting ports. <br/><br/>He said the vision document to make Indian Railways the best in the world by 2030, is ready and the ground work has started. He also said that it is the right time to think about logistics as a new destination for investment.
