Railways Minister: No intention to withdraw Izzat Scheme

Railways Minister Mukul Roy today categorically said that his ministry has no intention to withdraw Izzat Scheme. During the Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, he said that question does not arise to withdraw Izzat scheme.

He said that along with MPs, Members of State Legislative Assemblies have also been included to certify a individual under the scheme.

Under ‘Izzat’ scheme, Monthly Season Tickets are issued for the benefit of persons working in unorganized sector with monthly income not exceeding 1500 rupees for travel up to 100 kilometers from the station serving their place of residences.

Mr. Roy said that Railways is monitoring its working zone wise. There are 17 zones in the country.
