The Indian Railways today signed a pact with Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd.(RINL) to set up the country's biggest Forged Wheel plant at Raebarelli in Uttarpradesh. The Forged wheel plant to be set up at a cost of 1100 crore rupees at Lalganj will reduce India's dependence on imports of high speed forged wheels for trains. The steel requirement for the plant located in 40 acres is to be supplied by the RINL. Our correspondent reports the plant also offer employment opportunities to over 600 people. The agreement was signed in the presence of Railway minister Mallikarjun Kharge and Minister of Steel Mr. Beni Prasad Verma. The Forged Wheel plant with an initial production capacity of one lakh forged wheels a year is expected to become operational in 36 months time. Speaking on the ocasion, Minister of Steel Mr. Beni Prasad Verma said a task force will be constituted for speedy implementation of the plant.Railway Minister Mallikarjun Kharge said inclusive development is the driving force behind setting up of the plant. He said the Raeberaily plant, is a major milestone in self sufficiency, and to boost Indian manufacturing.
