Indian Railways have carried 565.37 million tonnes of freight traffic during seven months of the current financial year, up 5.30 per cent from 536.92 million tonnes carried during the corresponding period last year.

The freight traffic carried by the railways during the month of October, 2012 was 83.92 million tonnes, up 8.03 per cent from 77.69 million tonnes carried during the same period last year.
