The Railways have recorded a growth of 8.90 per cent in its revenue earnings from commodity-wise freight traffic. It stood at over 37,392 crore rupees during the April-October period of 2011, compared to about 34,337 crore rupees posted during the same period last year.An official release said that the Railways carried 536.92 million tonnes of commodity-wise freight traffic during the period against 516.89 million tonnes carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 3.88 per cent.
